Chisel advice needed - Festool Owners Group

Chisel advice needed. I need some advice on bench chisels. I'm a OK guy: Paring Chisels

I have not tried chisels made by Blue Spruce because Blue Spruce uses A2 steel for their blades. For my use A2 has two problems in a paring chisel. The first, A2 doesn't fit my sharpening methods and the second problem is not as great but still a problem with paring chisels is A2 working best with bevel angles of greater than 30 degrees.

which bench chisels to buy? - FineWoodworking

12/12/2019· I have one Stanley 1/4" chisel and a Narex 1/4" paring chisel that seems better than the mortise chisels. Then again, I beat those mortise chisels to death! The only 1/8" chisel I have, which I do use sometimes for dovetails believe it or not, is the Narex mortise chisel.

Toolerable: Which Chisel Set Should I Buy?

11/10/2018· To me a wide paring chisel would be preferable to a complete set of 7 chisels in increments from 1/4" up to 1". So my advice for the next chisel after a set of standard 3 would be to get a 1.25" or a 1.5" wide paring chisel.

26/5/2019· I found that a regular bench chisel doesn't really do that job as well, so I went with a 10mm brad point bit in my tiny little eggbeater drill instead. This seemed to work just fine. I used a piece of blue tape as a depth stop.
